What is SoulGround?

We grew from our roots.

Welcome to SoulGround! An intimate community of active members who connect with each other through individual recovery journeys. SoulGround holds 3-4 retreat programs throughout the year at various locations in Missouri, primarily at our main campus near Lake of the Ozarks.


Following registration for your first retreat, you will also receive access to a rich and vibrant, online community that fosters respect, understanding, and support. Retreat weekends typically start on Friday at 3pm when we open our doors. Each retreat is a little different as each facilitator has their own style of drama therapy modality. We engage in individual and group work, as well as many other creative arts therapies, mindfulness meditation, breaks, and family-style meals. Our retreats conclude on Sunday, 3-4pm with practicing healthy goodbyes (until we connect again on Facebook and at the next retreat!) and restoring the house to it's original state together as a community.


At SoulGround, we are driven to guide and encourage each member to dig a little deeper. While we acknowledge that each retreat will be entirely unique, facilitator(s), and group, we strive to consistently maintain the excellence and highly individualized attention for which we are known for.


SoulGround makes use of current, research-based, and evidence-based, drama therapy techniques.  Furthermore, 

we aim to provide attendees with a high quality, extraordinary, and meaningful experience, while also keeping our retreats as affordable and accessible as possible.

Our goal is to become fully-funded, to allow greater access and inclusion by removing financial barriers.

What is Drama Therapy?

According to the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA), “Drama therapy is the intentional use of drama and/or theater processes to achieve therapeutic goals. Drama therapy is active and experiential.” This approach provides a context for participants to express feelings, tell their stories, and/or achieve catharsis. It encourages setting goals and solving problems.
